Overview
This one-day rafting trip takes you down the Trishuli River, the most popular rafting river near Kathmandu, with class II–III rapids that are suitable for beginners.
The day starts with an early drive from Kathmandu to the put-in point, where your river guide gives a safety briefing before three to four hours on the water. Lunch is served by the river, and afterwards you can continue to Pokhara or Chitwan or return to Kathmandu the same day.
Good to know
Best time to go
Rafting on the Trishuli runs from September to May. In autumn the river is fuller and the rapids bigger, while spring brings warmer water and sunny days.
During the monsoon (June to August) the water is often too high, and trips may be cancelled for safety.
Who it suits
No previous experience is needed, but you should be in reasonable health and comfortable in water. The rapids are graded class II to III, which makes this a good first rafting trip.
Practical information
Helmets, life jackets and paddles are provided. Bring swimwear or quick-dry clothes, sandals that fasten securely and a change of clothes for after the trip.
See Includes/Excludes for what is covered in the price.
