  • Terms and conditions

These terms apply to all treks, peak climbs and tours booked with Pikey Sherpa Adventure. By paying a deposit you confirm that you have read and accepted them.

1. Booking and deposit

  • A booking is confirmed when we have received a deposit of 20% of the total trip price. Please send us your passport details, arrival information and travel insurance details no later than 20 days before departure.
  • The deposit is non-refundable.
  • The remaining 80% is paid on arrival in Kathmandu, at the latest at the pre-trip meeting before the trip starts.
  • For bookings made less than 10 days before departure, the full trip price is due when you book.
  • The deposit is paid by international bank transfer (SWIFT) or Western Union. We send you the payment details by email from contact@pikeysherpaadventure.com when we confirm your booking. Only pay to details sent from this address, and call us on WhatsApp if you are ever unsure. Any transfer fees are paid by the traveller.
  • The balance is paid in cash (USD, EUR or NPR) on arrival in Kathmandu.

2. Prices

  • Prices are per person in US dollars and include the services listed under “Includes” on each trip page. Everything listed under “Excludes” is not included. The prices shown on the website apply to groups of 2 to 4 travellers. Solo travellers pay 15% more, because the costs of the guide, porter and transport are not shared. Groups of 5 to 9 travellers get 7% off per person, and groups of 10 or more get 12% off. The exact price for your group is confirmed in writing when you book.
  • The price confirmed in writing at booking is the price you pay, unless government fees, permit costs or domestic flight prices change before your trip. In that case we will inform you as early as possible.

3. Cancellation by you

Cancellations must be sent to us in writing by email. The following charges apply, counted from the trip start date:

  • 20 days or more before departure: 20% of the total trip price is charged (this is the deposit). Any amount paid above the deposit is refunded.
  • Less than 20 days before departure: the deposit is not refunded. If you booked less than 10 days before departure and paid the full price, the full price is not refunded.
  • No refund is given for unused services if you leave a trip early, for any reason.

4. Postponing or transferring your trip

  • You may postpone your trip once free of charge if you tell us by email at least 20 days before departure. Your deposit is then kept as credit for a new date.
  • Further changes, or changes made less than 20 days before departure, may cost what we have already paid to hotels, airlines and permit offices.
  • You may transfer your booking to another person at no charge if you tell us at least 20 days before departure.

5. Changes and cancellation by us

  • Trekking in the Himalaya depends on weather, flights and local conditions. Your guide may change the route, the order of days or the overnight stops when this is needed for your safety.
  • Flights to and from Lukla are often delayed or cancelled because of weather. We recommend that you add 1–2 spare days to your travel plans, especially for treks in the Everest region. Extra costs caused by delays, such as hotel nights, meals or a helicopter flight, are paid by the traveller.
  • If we have to cancel a trip before departure for reasons within our control, you can choose another date or another trip, or receive a full refund of the money you have paid us.
  • We are not responsible for costs caused by events outside our control, such as weather, natural disasters, strikes, political unrest, pandemics or government decisions.

6. Travel insurance

  • Travel insurance is mandatory for all treks and climbs.
  • Your insurance must cover medical treatment, emergency helicopter rescue and evacuation up to the highest altitude of your trip, and repatriation. We also recommend cover for trip cancellation, delays and loss of luggage.
  • You must send us your insurance details before the trip starts. If you need a rescue, the cost is your responsibility and will be claimed from your insurance.

7. Health and fitness

  • You must be in good health and fit enough for the trip you book. Please tell us about any medical condition that may affect you at altitude when you book.
  • Your guide may decide that you must descend or end the trek if your health or safety is at risk. In that case, no refund is given for unused services.

8. Passport and visa

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.
  • You are responsible for getting your Nepal visa. Trekking permits are arranged by us when they are listed under “Includes”.

9. Children

Travellers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for them during the trip.

10. Your responsibility

  • You agree to follow your guide’s safety instructions and to respect local people, culture and nature.
  • We may end the trip for a traveller who puts the group at risk, breaks the law or behaves unacceptably. No refund is given in that case.

11. Liability

Trekking and climbing in the mountains involve risks. We plan every trip with care, but we are not liable for injury, illness, loss or damage that is not caused by our own negligence, or for costs caused by events outside our control.

12. Complaints

If something is not right during your trip, please tell your guide or contact us straight away, so we can try to fix it on the spot.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal.
